The training is free. Coaches get practice day preference for their students. Without coaches no pellets go down range. We need coaches to keep the Club going into the future.

Contact Jenn Peters as soon as possible to let her know if you can attend a Club Coach Training session.

Other community adults who do not have students enrolled at Merit Academy will be considered for coaching on a case by case basis.

Any new Gun/Range Safety Training will be conducted on an as needed basis. New students wanting to attend practice sessions must attend the Gun/Range Safety Training (approximately 2 hours) prior to attending practice sessions.

Merit Academy's shooting sports club will provide the opportunity for student athletes to participate in a safe, fun shooting sports program that gives youth the opportunity to develop marksmanship skills but life skills necessary to become productive, responsible, and respected adults in the community.

Students will hone skills necessary to compete with other schools in air rifle and air pistol shooting sports, as Merit Academy's marksmanship team.

Our coaches are all volunteer parents or community members. Periodically we offer Coach Training for any parent interested in coaching during the Club practice sessions.  We also do in house training for students to participate in the shooting sports program.

PARENT PARTICIPATION:

Like with any youth team or club, success requires adult support.

Parent participation is needed to maintain continuity of the program. If you cannot volunteer your time, please consider donations to maintain the program above the cost of Club dues. You can donate to our Midway USA Foundation endowment account or donate cash directly for the Club’s immediate use.

If you are able to volunteer your time, volunteer opportunities include:

        * Coaching (training provided)

        * Fundraising

        * Competition Support

SPORTS EQUIPMENT

* Merit Academy's club will provide air rifles, air pistols, pellets, and safety equipment.

* We will be training on electronic target systems which speeds up learning and skill development. It also increases spectator appeal with shot by shot real time video on large screen monitors.
